Freshly returned from a long weekend in Spain, we took to the Stoop to discuss the relative merits of TV and film, our pleasant but punishing trip, hidden entertainment licensing fees in airfare, and the prospect of Alicante in August. Photos below to accompany your listening.
Paid Subscribers: Don't sleep on the new suggestion box. We want your requests for the next season of Great Ape covers, and by god we mean to have them.
New York Descenders: This Friday (6/26) offers a Sophie’s choice to our NY-area readers, as two of S.D.I.R.’s official allies play concurrent shows less than two miles from one another. Dirt Buyer, whose latest album we discussed in Crap-I-Stan #1, is finally getting around to a record release show — it’s at Future Space in Ridgewood. And the marvelous Folding Band, who supported us at Bowery Ballroom in January, and whose Nico Headley joined us for a live video conference right here on the blog, will play a backyard party in Bushwick, the location of which you can unlock by DMing them. You will probably have to choose which show to attend the same way Sophie makes her terrible decision in William Styron’s book: in a flash of blind panic, with almost no cogitation. Whatever happens, we beg you, don’t let the momentous gravity of what you’ve done sit leaden upon your spirit for the rest of your days.
