Promise them one streamable/downloadable album, then delivery them three. That is the S.D.I.R. way.
Okay, often the S.D.I.R. way is to overpromise and underdeliver, but certainly not this time. CERTAINLY(!?) not this time. (Could this be the vibe for 2025? Wait and see π)
First, ALBUM NUMBER ONE β this thing is out of left field, impossible for any but the truly clairvoyant to have foreseen: We put together a playlist version of Brain Thrust Mastery - Deluxe on Spotify, but with a couple of substitutions due to the continuing unavailability of the songs βDig Dugβ and βBest Behaviorβ on that platform. (Why are those tracks unavailable? The explanation is complex and involves Joe Rogan, Joni Mitchell, TikTok, and βthe multiverse.β)
That album/playlist/thing is available now and is right here: Brain Thrust Mastery - Deluxe(ish) on Spotify.
Let us know in the comments if you or someone you love needs to see this product on Apple Music, Deezer, or HBO Max. Weβll do what we can.
ALBUMS NUMBER TWO and THREE live on the weird new Brooklyn-built platform Samply, which weβve been using this year to share demos with each other, and where we now host the collected cover versions and acoustic songs generated by this blog. We're going to continue to offer access to our Samply page only to paying subscribers of S.D.I.R., so that they can reasonably explain their subscription fee to their accountant, CFO, or government oversight committee.
Before we drop the paywall, hereβs what these two albums are βΒ itβs not actually that great, almost the same as what you can find on Spotify:
ALBUM TWO: Brain Thrust Mastery - Deluxe has the exact same songs that appear on the vinyl, no substitutions. (You can also download high quality WAV files, in case youβre still rocking an iPod.)
ALBUM THREE: Brain Thrust Mastery - Deluxe (Vinyl Sides), has all those songs, but they play as four very long tracks, one for each side of the two vinyls (sides A, B, C, and D). This allows you to hear the album with precisely the same breaks between songs that we caaaaarefully chose during mastering. (Youβll have to stop for a minute or so between tracks if you want to emulate turning over the record.) You can also download Album Three as four very large WAV files.
