Introducing "Qualifying Miles"
New album π, new song π, fumbled livestream π¬
Today is auspicious for the We Are Scientists org, for we have announced a new album at last. Qualifying Miles is out in July, and you can now pre-order it, pre-save it, pre-think about it, and now-listen to the first single, βPlease Donβt Say It.β (Weβll put all those things on buttons down below; studies have shown that animals from every rung of the evolutionary ladder like pushing buttons, and never forget that WE ARE BUT ANIMALS WEARING GLOVES.)
We put 12 songs on this album (you can see the tracklist if you do the pre-saving thing on your favorite streamer). Fans of the band know we believe strongly that all great albums would only be improved by trimming their tracklists to 10 songs. And yetβ¦ and yet we couldnβt bring ourselves to cut a single one of these twelve tracks. Each had a passionate advocate, either in the band or in our trusted inner circle. So here we are with a 12-song album. Our best one yet? Our least rigorously edited one yet? You will be the judge.
Hereβs that button farm. Lots more on this topic very soon.
If you missed todayβs livestream, you are not alone! It seems we accidentally originated the stream from one of our personal accounts, and only a couple dozen of the most tenacious sleuths out there managed to find it. Well, we still had a blast, and might give it another try here on Substack before returning to the evil Meta/Instagram hive for livestreams. Weβre waiting for Substack tech support to help us locate a recording, and as soon as they do weβll publish it you to peruse WHEN you want to, HOW you want to. (We remain dedicated to freedom.) Itβs well worth viewing for the music β Keith covers Smashing Pumpkins and plays our new single βPlease Donβt Say Itβ β, the discussion of important topics of the day (AI, romcoms, the name Jennifer, Hemingway), and the impeccable lighting.
[UPDATE: WATCH THE LIVESTREAM HERE.]
Last and least: TOUR starts in a couple of weeks. (!!!!!!!) Boyyyyy are we gettinβ excited. Weβve recently named friend-of-S.D.I.R. Sean McVerry as support on all of the EU/UK shows, which means weβll not only have a top notch opening act, but also a very fine second guitarist at hand to beef up the new material. This unnamed tour kicks off in Paris on 28 April, and then goes to every single place listed on this poster:
Thank you for your kind patience,
Keith & Chris
Much listening has taken place today, along with pre-ordering, pre-saving, and yes, pre-thinking. This part of the album cycle is always exciting. Honestly cannot wait. Looking forward to watching the livestream back once itβs available. It was great fun. Who knew Ernest Hemingway and Cobra Commander had so much in common!
Guys you wouldnβt be the same We Are Scientists if you didnβt fumble every single one of your livestreams π think we are used to it by now but sure do appreciate you trying to locate the recording for us π₯° βTwas a great livestream anyway, I have missed them β₯οΈ
