New Album "Lobes" + Tour = 🏁🏆😭

That’s the cover of “Lobes,” our eighth studio album.

It’s crazy to even write that. Eight! Children get their hands slapped with rulers for daring to scribble “eight albums” in creative writing class.

🥵😅🤪🥵😅🤪🥵😅🤪🥵😅🤪🥵😅🤪

The truly remarkable thing — and of course we would say this, of course we would, but we swear to our liege-god Crom it’s 100% true as far as we can tell — this is absolutely the best one. Like, we finished this thing many months ago, and it still gives us stand-up hairs on our arms when we listen to it with headphones.

But of course we would say that. We’ll go to the mats and fight it out when you’ve heard the whole splendid thing. Right now, certain facts have emerged:

  1. “Lobes” comes out January 20th, 2023.

  2. You can pre-order it now at this internet web drive (terminology?).

  3. Today we’re posting new U.K. tour dates for February (a sort of dance partner to the March/April tour we’re lavishing on Europe). These U.K. shows go on sale Friday, with a presale starting Wednesday for anyone who pre-orders “Lobes” (S.D.I.R. paid subscribers will also get access!). You can find links to the venue websites here, but first check out this very handsome poster:

January. February. April. It feels like a long time! Hell, it is a long time. The giant Sunda rat, endemic to Sumatra and often weighing in at a whopping 600 grams (about as much as a medium-size block of cheddar), punches the clock after just one year of life! Why, a baby Sunda rat is gestated in just three weeks! (Did you know this blog was also about nature??) That means that a Sunda rat born today will be deep into middle age by the time he comes to see The Show Lobes Tour.

Not you, though. You’ll be all fired up by an Autumn ‘22 full of lots more music, video, and prose (from us), and Avatar: Way of Water (from Cameron). So buck up. Go pre-order a copy of the vinyl, or a tarot card deck (yeah, we’ve got decks). Stay strong for us, and we will stay strong for you. And remember what Spielberg always says: “Jaws got me where I am, but it’s peanut butter that motivates me.” (Paraphrasing from memory.)

Much sax, and talk to you soon,

Keith & Chris 🎷
