Oddly, I was going to post a question in the chat about tour logistics so you've saved me a job with this post. Not all questions answered but I'll refrain from asking the outstanding ones for fear of triggering you over parking spaces and sending repetitive emails.
I'm getting really excited about the 6 dates that I've booked in but I do feel that I'll now spend some time thinking "did WAS find suitable parking, I hope so."
Feel free to come at us with specific questions, although I’m fairly confident that this piece is an utterly exhaustive description of the full duties and concerns of a tour manager.
My extra questions only related to the booking of venues but answers aren't necessary for that part.
My friend who lives in Brussels has recommended Delerium Taphouse for my trip across next week. For me, there are 2 major selling points for this place, it's about 10 mins walk from the venue and it has over 2000 different beers in stock.
These have been in place for several years now. We would actually LOVE for someone to try to get into our locked van, but our lawyers have strongly advised us against "baiting."
I guess a lot of Viennese wouldn't mind trading the stained glass for better parking either, seems to be a pain in the a*s. If you want me to buy you a meal and some drinks to make up for it, hit me up (seriously).
If you want some real Vienna vibe I would recommend Cafe Dezentral - if you dare. One guy in the reviews says "Smokiest place I've been since the 1980s. The decor looks as scruffy and uncared-for as the clientele. Absolutely nobody here appears to have a proper job, and several of the men have the air of being on the game. Beer excellent." They once even had it printed and hung on the wall. The smoking indoors is banned now, but it still lingers.
Cafe Else would be a bit more civilized spot.
If you fancy some cocktails, try the Neddle Vinyl Bar.
It for sure does! 😄 He concluded with "In short, this place ROCKS, and if you don't like it, then I don't like you."
I wouldn't go that far, judging people like that. 😉 If someone's not into that down to earth Vienna vibe, I get it. I myself find it very enjoyable for a relaxed drink or two.🍺🍺
I'm not sure if parking is an issue in Dublin and since you're not visiting here on this particular tour (😡) file this comment away for a while but I live 5 mins drive from Whelan's (and other neaby venues) and can offer complementary parking behind two (2!) locked gates.
Parking is indeed at a premium in Dublin - the last few times we’ve stayed in the city center, we’ve had to park our van out by the port, a good half-hour from our hotel. Your double-gated system sound like a dream. In fact, it sounds like a trap. I’m suspicious.
In Nottingham, there's a bar that can't seem to decide if it's called Billy Bootleggers or Percy Picklebackers. Is it "good"? Not by traditional metrics. But it plays great music and has that chaotic "anything might happen" vibe that makes a bar great. Just don't go in the photo booth unless you thoroughly wipe it down first.
Birmingham: Sunflower Lounge.
Brighton: Dead Wax Social, East Street Tap; or Twisted Lemon for cocktails.
Yes either that or (because I find Olivier quite noisy) maybe Kafe België on the Oudegracht, which will also offer beautiful views of the city and the famous Dom church.

Have you considered installing your own Resident Evil style lasers in the van as an anti-thief precaution?

My favourite bar in Paris is Le 10 Bar International on Rue de l'Odéon. That said, I've not been there for sixteen (16) years.
In Brighton I would HIGHLY recommend the Lion & Lobster pub.
Wishing you plenty of clearance and ice, and safe travels. See you at a couple of shows!

Cannot believe how quickly this will be upon us. So excited I’m even prepared to brave the Resident Evil style lasers!
I guess the ice cube emoji is doubly relevant!
We are so impatient !!!

“Beer excellent” negates any of the negative(?) elements in that review.

Well if it eases your concern I'm sure I could develop a small rectangular ticket for the occasion. I draw the line at installing a barrier however.
The offer is there, you have my (substack) details when the time comes.

See u there!
This was a reply to Gretchen about Utrecht in the Netherlands- sorry, not enough ice so I guess I wasn’t cool enough to click the right button :-)
In Utrecht I can highly recommend the Belgisch Biercafé Olivier Utrecht. It's in an old church in the center of town with tons of different beers.
Bar recommendation in Utrecht: Café België has over 200 beers, most of them from Belgium
