‘Twas the autumn of 2021, and the world was hesitantly emerging from hibernation. Two years of stay-home had frazzled us badly, Netflix was all we knew for sure, and yet for many the desire to congregate publicly had surpassed containment, spilled over into acts of wanton negligence like booking tickets for, and then attending, live music shows. Especially crazed were the minds that saw fit to plan weeks and weeks of shows, night after night, unremitting, a ludicrous inversion of our world’s new learned behavior. That was us, you guys. And that was Coach Party.
If you were lucky enough and brave enough to come out to one of those shows in November and December of 2021, you caught an unstoppable young band near the beginning of their arc. Since then they have toured the UK and Europe on their own and with Queens of the Stone Age; dropped their debut LP, Killjoy; and at last, just recently, overcome the absurd expense of coming to the U.S. for South by Southwest and headliners in LA, Dallas, and Brooklyn. It was the day after that final show that we enticed them onto The Stoop with an offer of a couple cold beers and some meandering conversation. (In the end they bought the beers, but we did more than our share of the meandering.)

We’ll be back later this week with a brand new Great Ape for you sing, dance, laugh, and weep bitterly along to.

No one is reading these comments a week later, but I'm behind on my stooping and need to share that I also once bought a can of store-brand beans that had no bean slime. I don't have any additional insight to offer, I've just never heard of it happening before, and it's nice to share a weird moment with someone else.
Great chat! Can confirm that a Coach Party live set is well worth seeing. They always seem like lovely people and that certainly comes across here. Nice to hear a bit from Joe too - he’s usually pretty taciturn at gigs.
Looking forward to the next Great Ape!
