Great cover, as always. I think this was a much better choice than “Here I Go Again” and I very much enjoyed the use of the metaphor “It did not withstand the strip-search” by way of explanation.
This could be my favourite retrospective on 2023 too. The final section really made me laugh. I’m very relieved Dewey is still with us!
"Don't Change" is my favorite INXS song, and the cover is very beautiful. Thank you for that and for giving us the inside scoop on your world through photos and their stories. I hear Universal is rebooting The Wolf Man, maybe they can work in some mega horsies. I'd watch it.
Ahhh--I feel like your favorite DLAND fan may have had some influence on your Lobe experience ride 😉 May you enjoy your 10 year pass to the most magical place on earth for the next 10 years.
Happy new year! Can't wait to see everyone at EuroDisney for the Lobes ride. I have it on good authority that Timothee Chalamet is willing to dress up as the walrus from the Livestream Catastrophes to help promote this at the venue.
On another topic, about a year ago a "Florida '91 / It Follows" double-a-side was mentioned. Is this one of the things that might yet emerge?
Also, I don't think we ever found out what your opinion of the Lobes Pils was. Expectations met or perhaps even exceeded? (I liked a it a lot)
(hey, don't tell them, but I think they may have met with a Fake Disney Rep. It's been called Disney World France – as opposed to 'EuroDisney' – for about 22 years now 😬. Let's just hope they didn't hand over any cash or personal data).
Oh crap, forgot that changing the name BACK to “EuroDisney” hasn’t happened yet and that it’s a closely guarded secret that they BEGGED us not to mention even to our “dead grandpas in prayer” (quoting them)
Oh dear, I believe a similar thing happened to Bob Dylan which is why he can now never retire from touring (a sad tale but he really should have seen a red flag when 'Disney' said they wanted to make a Blood on the Tracks ride).
Another top quality cover and you've set the benchmark for years in review now.
Looking forward to the future posts that you’ve teased us with. Sadly, I can’t thank you with tales of rabies though. Although, I was once mistakenly given the incorrect rabies vaccination ahead of a work trip.
I had a work trip about 5 years ago and needed to get all recommended vaccinations, including a course of 3 rabies jabs, in order to be covered by work’s travel insurance.
There were two types of rabies jabs to choose from at that time. I went for the apparently better of the two which was also the more expensive so less popular. (Work was paying why not splash out?) When I went for the first booster I commented that the needle was smaller than the last time. The nurse then realised she’d given me the jab I’d not gone for so then had to give me the correct injection. I hate needles too.
I made decision never to use that particular travel clinic again but I didn’t get rabies so it all worked out I suppose.
Ran into this on my Plex feed, but if Shudder has Gingerdead Man I can only assume they have Velocipastor, a film about a struggling pastor who visits China and inherits the ability to transform into a dinosaur. Although initially horrified by his new abilities, he is eventually convinced by a hooker to fight crime and ninjas. It’s better than Monsturd.
Continue the Great Ape Antipodean theme onto Shudder. Australian/NZ films from the 80s/90s had just the right blend of epic scenery, sunshine and down to earth, comedic delivery to render the splatter and gore stomachable. From a UK perspective we also had the comfort of some actor we'd only known for being wholesome in Neighbours or Home and Away pop up and slay/be slain

The *other* Pitchfork if they reviewed the world's best cheddar: "3.6 / 10" 🙄🧀
Looking forward to putting that song in my ears tomorrow.
HNY! And don't change! Unless you feel like you simply must!!
You’re probably being generous about the cheddar

Wolf Man should absolutely wrestle mega horsies (after Universal clears the IP with us💵)

You'd better paywall this post STAT!

Makes sense now I think about it. Sad.

It feels like this might warrant greater explanation!

I mean, silver linings! 🤷♀️
Ignoring the fitness to practise element on the part of the nurse of course.

But which ones specifically?
Dark Age, Roadgames, Razorback, Howling III: The Marsupials. Definitely remember some familiar faces in those.
That last one sounds like a real gem!
