Stunningly written post, gorgeous cover. Although I don’t know if I’ve ever heard the original, it’s still amazing to think how songs and artists can be like this lens we view the world from. Weirdly, been thinking a lot lately about how, as a teenager, music kind of feels like a window into life experiences you’ve not lived yet.

brb, rebranding all my former crushes as “psychic bruises”

Or you could do what I did and combine all former psychic bruises into a rom-com 🙃

This represents everything I love about SDIR — a beautiful cover, thoughtful writing, and a laugh at the end. Weirdly, I am struck by how much this one reminds me of the Charli xcx cover from a couple of years ago.

My favourite SDIR for a while now. Thank you.

Also, I remember watching a documentary about this a while back — Classic Albums, maybe? And being struck by the way they just waited to see if he could relearn to drum rather than put it out without him. It was a good watch.

Definitely needed this today which made for a very good start to the week.

Thought it was Keith's work until mountains were mentioned.

Don’t know why but I thought that Keith was the Def Leppard fan not Chris! So I thought I was reading about Keith’s childhood reminiscences, until I saw the reference to Utah further down the page, then it clicked 🤦‍♀️😂

A lovely gentle wake up for a Monday morning as I’m back to work today after a week off 😩 the Great Apes rendition of Love Bites - beautiful as always 🥹🥰

Strangely, a few words in, I was like "Oh, is this Chris?".

Hysteria was the first cassette I ever bought! And I had 2 Def Leppard posters on my wall as a kid! This was a splendid, raw cover! As for the original, I never got into Love Bites. Animal & Hysteria were my fav tracks on the album. On the strength of Hysteria and via everyone's favorite music subscription club of the 80's - Columbia House, I procured Def Leppard's back catalog for enjoyment. I also had a couple of Poison cassettes...Ohhh, I can almost hear you guys covering 'Ride the Wind'. 😉 Lastly, the spin the bottle tale makes me think of the Juliana Hatfield song, which would also be a trip to hear as an Ape.
