"Lucky Just to Be Here," acoustic
Track 10 on LOBES REDUCED, dropping from L.A. 🌴
“This song could match Los Angeles's context where many dream of making it big in the entertainment industry, and the notion of being 'lucky just to be here' is a common sentiment among its aspirational residents.”
So says our clever advisor (who, if you haven’t guessed, is Ms. GPT-4).
Are the residents of Los Angeles really lucky just to be here? No self-respecting New Yorker would ever admit it, but perhaps they are. What I can say for sure is that we’re lucky to be here, doing what we do, driving these roads, rocking these halls, spending our evenings with all of you wonderful weirdos, members of that shrinking segment of the population willing to peel yourselves off the couch, to tear your eyes from the television, to put down your iPad and light out for some IRL stimulus. (To be clear, we do not — can not — consider Netflix an enemy as long as they continue to host Hubie Halloween.)
Here’s an acoustic take on “Lucky Just to Be Here,” track 10 off of Lobes Reduced.
We haven't decided what else we might do with these drumless tunes, but as promised last week in the comments section, we’ll at minimum make them available as downloads to paid subscribers. (May take a couple days to organize that.) And they’ll remain accessible to all here on S.D.I.R. — please share with anyone you know who thinks it’s possible for music to still be kinda good even without drums (sometimes).
In traversing the 35th parallel today, we officially began the second half of this North American SHOW LOBES tour. Southern California, Arizona, Texas and beyond — much LOBE remains. And thank goodness, because now we’ve got the hot hand; we’re in the groove; if the tour were a horse, it just moved from a trot to a canter. Crom help you if you miss a show in your town. Crom bless you if you’ve already come out to one. And may Crom grant you patience if you’re not on this tour’s map. We’ll get to you eventually, or you’ll come to us. In this we must have faith. And if we’re wrong, well, that is why Crom has bestowed Hubie Halloween upon the realm.
Because this is a Not For Profit charitable blog we set up to benefit dogs and cats (my dog and Keith’s cats), I’m going to wedge a couple of promotional comments in here:
• We’re doing a Black Friday sale on our Cameo page: vids are an attractive $20. Up to thirty people can exercise this offer, and as of this moment seventeen have already done so. It expires Saturday night at midnight.
• The Xmas Jumper ships next week. Get your orders in now(ish) if, as we recommend, you want to wear it for the majority of the days in December.
That’s it! Time to soundcheck!
🥤😚( <— his lips are reaching the wrong way for the straw)
Purchased both. Going tonight. I think your animals will be fed for quite some time. All I know is, I’m just as lucky to be around you folks as well 💛
As much as I love every track from Lobes, this one might be my least favourite. (Sorry, but with such a stellar album, something has to finish last!) This acoustic version, however, is beautiful! You are to be commended on producing ten incredible new versions of what were already faultless tracks imo. I look forward to being able to download them all. Thank you.
