The Seven Stars, Stroud (near Petersfield): nestled deep in Hampshire countryside and part of the Hall & Woodhouse family of gastropubs. A firm favourite for many years. Absolutely delicious food and ale and the views around of the countryside are fantastic.
It could be an easy diversion/stop off on the way from the south coast. Should be only an hour and a half from there to London (if you are heading that way after).
I suspect you guys know more about mid-journey stop offs around the UK than any of us. I personally hate having to stop when I’m travelling. It feels like it just prolongs the agony. Just as well I’m not the one touring, I guess.
I agree with Craig about the thickness of that cucumber 😂. Still looks like an excellent sandwich though.
I wholeheartedly agree regarding the UK & Ireland’s dismal record when it comes to the filter coffee game. It’s practically only in trendy specialty coffee shops in large cities that you can get it, from what I’ve seen. That’s certainly the case in Dublin, anyway.
Filter is king. I’ve been trying to spread the word here in Ireland, too. Espresso-based coffee tastes like varying degrees of “burnt” to me, not to mention as you said, it’s served at temperatures that Satan would be proud of.
I live approximately halfway between Belfast and Dublin so I can definitely offer food and good coffee recommendations in exchange for another tour over here in the not too distant future! 😂
The Strawberry Duck in Entwistle, Bolton is lovely. It’s right in the middle of two reservoirs that are very picturesque and lovely in the summer. The food is pretty good too and they are dog friendly so loads of scope to pet other peoples pooches! Great for a walk too if you want to stretch your legs!
That's real money. Unfortunately, it's the usually the promoter who does the shop for dressing room sundries. We must pray they are as dollar-conscious as you.
If all these comments aren’t about how thick that cucumber has been sliced then the world ain’t right no more.
Except to say: why aren’t we talking about a podcast? Come on. You must be the only three guys on the planet who don’t have one.

Adding to our "want to go" list!

We Are Scientists shop at Tesco? Oh my gosh, they are just like me!!
We follow your lead.
You guys have to get a Tesco Clubcard if you haven’t already. Sometimes it knocks like a fiver off my shop.

The Mill House near Odiham. All the gins, dog friendly, nice garden with mill pond, and the food is pretty good.
Also that cucumber is all sorts of wrong 🤢🤮
Seriously questioning your Mill House recco given your cucumber comment.
