Hey! You can choose to receive only our “business” emails.
We’ve been posting a lot lately, and there have been many new subscribers (😁🙏🏼), mostly driven by you wonderful readers sharing our posts with friends (we think?). There have also been a few un-subscribers, which makes sense, because some of you probably don’t want to get daily updates about coffee shops in Leeds and the CDs we liked when we were 16. If you prefer to receive only emails related to touring, new music, merch drops, etc., you can easily change your subscription settings. All you have to do is go to Slow Descent in a web browser, click on your icon/blob in the top right corner, and select “manage subscription”:
Then de-select “The Good & The Great” from the list of Notifications:
And boom. You will not receive any insights from us about which dogs can jump the highest (coming next week; speculative), or polls about Taco Bell (what you’re reading now, it turns out). You’ll continue to get emails with news about shows, music, etc. — the stuff bands normally send people.
Conversely, if you’re enjoying these action-blogs, which are full of rich cultural commentary, revealing personal history, and lucrative stock tips, please consider recommending it to a friend. Here’s a button:
Now, on to the real reason we’ve called you here today. Do you like Taco Bell?
You’re waiting for some context, and it will come, we promise. But for now we need to take an honest, unbiased poll. We’ve had a prolonged disagreement this evening (following the beautiful, cooperative effort that was our show at Thekla) about: “do people like Taco Bell?” Can’t reveal where each of us falls, cuz we don’t want to sway you, but we’ll unpack the polling data along with our own takes soon, PLUS (hopefully) a compelling case about why anyone should give a fuck at all about this question. So for now:
We’ve hidden the vote count from you cuz we don’t want to influence results. But we’ll reveal all data this week along with, again, the reason this is vaguely interesting.
We played on a boat today (Thekla, in Bristol), and the stage, along with the rest of the venue, was tilting all night. 10-20 degrees off of flat. Weird. I guess if you had to choose, you’d choose flat. But you’d also choose to play that show in front of that audience. Anyway, we’ve played a few boats over the years. More on that in another post.
Day off tomorrow in Birmingham. We’re gonna go see our guy Andy Burrows play with KT Tunstall. We’re gonna get a curry. We’re gonna do laundry, dry clean a jacket, print out some lyric sheets, maybe see a movie (?!? probably wishful thinking…). But first:::::: ………… SLEEEEEEEP.

Catch me on the Manage Subscriptions page NEVER. Send me all your business straight to my email. I love this day and age
In your “Just the Facts” post, you were debating including Dinosaurs for the Bristol setlist - it was an excellent decision, glad that you did. 👏🏻
