So much excitement in the run up to QM dropping on Friday. Can't wait to see more of it live next week. Every song I've heard from QM has, so far, been a winner.
It's graduation ceremonies at work this week and I've been on stage with my fancy cat pin on my robes just to help build the WAS momentum. The gown company may be less happy about that but I think it enhances the look.
Woah, half an hour ago I ordered the 'Good Times' bundle, not only for the pretty merch, but in the hope it would bring with it real life good times, then a mere 10 minutes later an SDIR Substack buzz alerting me to get ready for 'The Big One' and a Jo Wiley Sofa Sesh. Outstanding service! 🙏
I keep thinking it’s not possible to be more excited and then you drop another taster and there it is - a whole new level of excitement. You are correct, anticipation is certainly sweet!
From the acoustic recordings I am fairly confident that Dead Letters will end up as my favourite track so this is a real treat. As Izzy says, it sounds very promising. Love the “It’s getting better” at the end too.
Can I just check about the instores. Will there be signings in Kingston or just the performance? From the timings I’d imagine it’s the latter but I’d hate to arrive unprepared if you have pens at the ready!
Hey, Lou — you are correct that the tight turnarounds on some of these double-show days, including Kingston, will mean that we pre-sign albums rather than doing a signing queue. Here's how it breaks down for all of the in-stores:
Friday 18th July – Kingston Banquet @ The Fighting Cocks
BOTH SHOWS - NO SIGNING! (but we are selling merch if you want to come to the merch stand for a non-formal signing after the 2nd show)
Monday 21st July – Brighton Resident - SIGNING!
Tuesday 22nd July – Bristol Rough Trade
MATINEE - SIGNING!
EVENING - SIGNING!
Wednesday 23rd July – Liverpool Jacaranda @ Baltic - NO SIGNING!
that sofa session sounds like it should be great, going to have to tune in to that. really fun to carefully analyze the words of a we are scientists interview. and of course the release of the big one at midnight is also going to be terrific. and the sense of anticipation builds with knowing that qualifying miles is set to be sent out and hopefully arrive in the mailbox before too long. and and and and.
Songs sounding strong and so sonically satisfying. Yes I went for it with the alliteration. See you Friday ✌🏼

This is hugely helpful. Thanks so much
From the minute I heard this I thought this would be your favourite track Lou 😉
Ha! Nothing if not predictable 😂
The 18th is getting closer.... Thanks for sharing the songs little by little. This one seems quite promising too.
ooh, some treats.

yes. looking forward to the near future.
Can’t believe we’re mere hours away from you guys dropping The Big One (on a Wednesday!?)
Dropping a single on a Wednesday just so I can listen to your interview live on my work from home day? You guys are too good to me.
I'm not sure what Chris is showing off more, those fine products in his hands or the sharp work of his barber! (there's no wrong answer) 😉
Looking forward to the Sofa Session!
Came here to say the same thing. Forgive me for being shallow, but that look is FIRE.
I don’t know - I kinda miss the curls 👨🦱
Friday it's gonna make me very happy!!
attn: We Are Scientists...I receive a weekly email from Newbury Comics, which announces new releases. QM is not featured in their listing for 18Jul. I was wondering if you expected this or perhaps knew why they were failing us? https://www.newburycomics.com/pages/music-new-releases?_kx=NibxVzaL0J0WY1Rrfb-Ee43Xvj7hNnxt1kysTteCwYI.VEeeE8
